Yargoth the Forgotten Guardian is a villain from my play, Sinbad in the Land of the Amazons. He was originally named Yargoth the Soul-sucker but after being defeated by Sinbad and an Amazonian princess he was cast back into the genie’s bottle. He has now become the Forgotten Guardian and is cursed to remain bound to the bottle until someone tries to steal a certain magic crystal at which time he will be freed to wreak havoc once again.
The sculpture is based on an image in a poster that my friend, Tom Badillo, produced in the 1980’s. I played the monster opposite Annette Benning’s jewel stealing heroine. The sculpture is made out of polymer clay and various things that I found. Originally, Yargoth was the upper-half of Garg’s armature which I ripped off and tossed aside. I reconstructed the upper half of Garg and used the cast off part as the base of Yargoth coming out of the genie bottle.
